The intent of our PE curriculum at Tame Valley Academy is to deliver a curriculum that is accessible to all. We believe PE and sports contribute to our pupils’ wellbeing and social development, working together co-operatively and as part of a team, but most importantly to their physical development. It is our belief that the skills they acquire in primary school should be skills for life and we endeavour to develop a love of sports throughout the children's time in our school. PE develops a child’s knowledge, skill and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing confidence in a range of various activities.
We offer a varied curriculum at Tame Valley to help promote this with activities including: football, netball, cricket, tennis, hockey, swimming, water safety. We understand the importance of keeping healthy and ensure this is instilled in the children. Children are taught to think, select and apply skills that promote positive healthy attitudes, well-being and lives.
At Tame Valley, sports play an important role in the curriculum and we encourage all our pupils to participate in a variety of sports. Through our PE curriculum children have the opportunity to experience and gain skills in individual and team sports.
Through our learning community we participate in swimming, football, netball, golf, multi skills, athletics and cricket tournaments as well as sport festivals. During this academic year there will be visits to Aston Villa FC academy and stadium, University of Wolverhampton Sports Campus and the School Games competitions. We will hold a successful Sports Day during the summer term.
